Our Trip to Tacoma & Seattle

Our family made it through the first quarter of school for Josh, so we decided to head up to Tacoma to see Josh's sister Jessie and her husband Robbie. It was nice to just relax with family again. Cohen did great in the car because we planned it around his nap and he slept most of the two and a half our drive both ways. (By the way we got to turn his car seat around and he notices the windshield wipers and the steering wheel the most.)

This picture is in the front yard at Jessie's house. What a beautiful tree! I wish I had one near me that bloomed all year round.

Robbie and Jessie have two wonderful pets. This is the dog, Spike, and the cat below is Roxy. They are both VERY playful and well behaved too. Cohen was freaked out by Spike the first night we got there. It was to the point that Jessie took his collar off so Cohen wouldn't hear him walk around the house. Cohen would squeal, shuffle away, run, and then jump into arms to get away from this dog.

On day two things changed. We taught Cohen that he could firmly say "No, no - down" to the dog and put his hand out whenever Spike approached him. Spike listened, and they became best buds the rest of the trip. They followed each other around, and looked out for each other when the mean neighbor dog barked, gave each other kisses, and danced. It was fun to see how Cohen learned to get along and have fun with the dog. This picture is from when we were leaving.

Roxy found the pack and play and wanted to have some fun I guess. I thought it was humorous. Our cat Rusty is so timid around everyone, especially Cohen. He loved to be able to actually play with this cat.

We went to the famous market in Seattle. Our trip there was shorter than we all would have liked (due to a Cohen meltdown) but hopefully we'll get back really soon to see more. Josh was in heaven we he saw these monster jumbo shrimp. I don't think this picture does them justice. They were probably just a little smaller than my hand. Robbie and Jessie were very generous to us the entire trip, and made sure to get some of these shrimp for dinner. How is it that my family loves shrimp and I don't? Really? Cohen's a picky eater, but he'll eat shrimp any day of the weak. We also got wonderful Halibut steaks that Robbie grilled up. They were delightful!

I got to go past Pike's Fish Market. We went past pretty fast, so I didn't see any fish being thrown. The reason I care is because I used to train the "Fish Philosophy" to people at work. It all stemmed from this market, and there's a video of these guys throwing fish at this very place. It's kind of cool that I got to see it.

And here we have an odd man making balloons for people. We paid him a dollar to make a dog for Cohen. Unfortunately Cohen popped the balloon about 3 minutes later. Hey, maybe that's what caused his meltdown.... wish I knew.

Robbie and Jessie have a beautiful yard. We spent some time out there letting Cohen and the dog run around. I really enjoy flowers and beautiful plants.

Thanks for having us Robbie and Jessie!
