It's been another week or so, and we've been hanging around having some fun. We're proud to say that Josh made it successfully through his first quarter of school.... and that we all made it through finals week.
Cohen is playing pretend more and more. He enjoys giving milk to his stuffed animals, burping them, giving them a blanket, and then putting them to bed. It's very cute. He's also got this new thing for ambulances. He can make a siren sound and is constantly carrying around his 3 inch long ambulance. A few nights ago I was putting him to bed and he wanted to hold his ambulance while he was drinking his milk - ok - fine. Then he wanted to share his milk with the ambulance - alright how nice of him to share. Then, he wanted me to kiss the ambulance - how could I say no.... and then cutest of all - he wanted to rub my hair on the ambulance. My hair is Cohen's comfort. Whenever he's relaxing or needs comfort he's got a handful of my hair and is usually rubbing it on his cheek. Cohen's so nice to share me with his ambulance. :)
This week Cohen turned 18 months old, and finally hit 20 lbs! (20.2 to be exact.) We had a playgroup at the ward house on St. Patrick's day. He almost seemed interested in coloring. It was fun for him to run around and be with kids.

This is Jack, Kalob, and Cohen. They are all between 18 and 24 months.

Cohen's a runner. Whenever we're in the cultural hall he just runs and runs. It's even better when there are balls around.

This is a little taste of what the activity looked like.

I'm embarrassed to share this but, ok-- all you bakers out there. I need help. I haven't made a truly successful batch of chocolate chip cookies since I've been in Oregon. I don't know if it's the flour thing, butter vs. margarine, baking time, or what! I've tried lots of things, but somehow my cookies end up flat and often disintegrating. If anyone has some advice please let me know. I promise, I used to know how to make good chocolate cookies, but something terrible has happened - and I don't know what it is.

Cohen discovered that he could climb into the dryer this week. I don't support it but it makes me smile.

It looks like you're getting more settled in and getting out more. The pics are beautiful! I've always wanted to live in Portland. Maybe we should swap, I'll live in Portland for a while and enjoy some great hiking (Florida is FLAT!!) and you come out to Naples and enjoy the beaches. I have a recipe for "the perfect chocolate chip cookies" according to Martha. I haven't actually tried the recipe but they looked really yummy. Let me know if you want me to email it to you.
Wow updates! I really like this recipe http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/jacques-torress-secret-chocolate-chip-cookies?backto=true. I usually do half shortening and half butter. Shortening melts at a high temp, so it helps to make the cookies not as flat. I also make the dough the day before and freeze it over night. Then I refrigerate the baking pans. When it comes time to back the dough and pans are cold which helps to slow things down so they don't go flat. Good luck! That is my fav recipe and the one I have had the most luck with.
