Cohen Turned 4!

I can hardly believe my sweet Cohen is four.
Wow.

Just a little update on him....
Cohen is still a run around type of guy.
He loves to climb and jump on anything.
He is a sweetheart.  I can't believe how kind hearted he is.
He is constantly trying to help Parker and I with various things.
He is very sensitive, but can talk about it with you and tell you everything he's feeling and why, and usually how to fix it.
He loves to talk, talk, talk, and I actually think he's kind of talented at it.
His vocabulary and level of understanding seem way beyond his years....
but I'm not the only one to think so.  :)
He still loves learning new things and is a curious little guy, always asking questions.
He has a hard time holding still for very long, but when he's really interested in something he can focus on it for quite some time.  (Thank Goodness!!! otherwise I might suspect ADHD!)
He enjoys watching educational TV (which I put a strict limit on so he doesn't love it all day long, becuase he would) and playing educational games on the computer.
He loves to pretend.
He knows his letters and numbers well, and can almost flawlessly count to 100.
He's not so hot at writting letters, that takes a lot of focus for him, and it's something I'm trying to work on with him, without him hating it.
I guess I could write about Cohen for pages and pages if Iwanted to because he is so fully apart of my life. He and his little brother are the focus and purpose for the vast majority of all my days.
I love Cohen so much.
I'd do just about anything for his betterment.
I love being his mom and feel blessed because of it.

Ok.... onto the Birthday celebrations.
Sorry for the long post!!

We held his birthday party a few days before his birthday just for convienence of the weekend.
Grandma and I worked together to get him these collapable soccer goals, and he was SO excited.
Our tiny appartment is a soccer field to him, so adding the goals is just the best thing ever.

So, here's the cake I made for his socer themed party.
Lucky for me, I kept a whole bunch of stuff from his first birthday that was also soccer themed!
Wish the cake turned out better.
Oh, well.  Everytime I do it I learn a little more.  This time I learned.... make the cake the day before and refridgerate it before frosting it!

We held the party at the park with his new goals.
It was a rather layed back party with few moments of real direction,
but everyone seemed to have a good time, I think.

Everyone invited was from our ward, and all the families know all the families.  I couldn't just invite the kids Cohen's age, because I wondered what the rest of their families would be doing, and how the moms would handle it all with the busy dads and the other kids.
So, I just invited the entire family of each of his church friends.
It made for tons of kids, and tons of fun.

We were lucky that this day in September was dry and warm, even hot, a little too hot.

It normally rains so much in Portland, that the park doesn't have any sprinklers and dries up to crispy tan grass for a couple monthes of the year. Weird.

To Cohen, a birthday party without a pinata is not a birthday party at all.
I don't know how he came up with this concept, but getting a pinata for his party was not even a question for us.  It was a must.

These are some of his closest friends.

I tried so hard to remeber everything to take to the park, but somehow I forgot that we'd need forks to eat cake with.  Whoops.  We pretended their peices of cake were like cupcakes, you don't use forks for those. :)

This was probaby his favorite present from the party.  It's a spiderman dart board.
Spiderman is his hero of choice, and throwing projectiles at a target sounds like a great idea to him.

Cohen has been in love with bows and arrows for monthes. This obsession increased when he borrowed his friends set for a day.
Ever since then, it's all he could think of when asked what he wanted for his birthday.
I had to follow through.

He was absolutely thrilled to say the least!

He played with nothing else for at least a week.  Litterally.
He shoots the arrows down the hall, puts them in order, plays "archer" and all that.
Just adorable boy stuff.

I tried to make him a "4" pancake for his birthday.
He was thinking about his bow and arrows too much to care.

Grandma sent a wonderful birthday package!  Cohen loved it too.
Look at those cleats!

Cool instrument.  Cute smile.

We tried to go ride paddle boats on his birthday, but the hours had recently changed for the fall season, so we played on the playground instead.

I made him another cake because I'm weird.
It's chocoate with mint frosting because we both love it.

Parker partied right along Cohen and rather enjoyed the day.

Happy Birthday, little man!  I love you!
"Mom, can I eat some cake now?"
