I had a hard time, at first, with the idea of Christmas with no family.
I was worried I'd be bored or not make it feel like Christmas or something.
Well, I'm happy to report it was still Christmas, and we had a wonderful time of it.
The boys are to the age now where they want to play with their toys, and not sit still long anyways.
It was so nice to do everything at the pace we wanted.
To my family, I did miss you, dearly. I hope that Christmases in the future will include you.
There's something about sharing in the joy of the children, and watching eachother open exchanged gifts that brings the holiday to life. There's something about tradition that warms my heart. New traditions can and will be made, but the old ones are joyious.
We did a little nativity roll play while Josh read the scriptures. Parker was a sheppard, who never really stayed put for more than two seconds, and Cohen and I played the main parts. The cute boy even wanted me to get on his rocking horse and drag me around. We had to modify things a bit.
I got the boys matching pajamas they opened the night before.
Cohen has this thing for footie pajamas right now. It's adorable.
I snuck a picture in after Santa had left.
I heard from him that he only had to spend $10 to make the fooseball table! Way to go Santa!
Do you see the mess in the background? That's what it looked like AFTER the initial clean-up. How fun.
We invited our friends the Zukerans over for Christmas dinner. It was nice to have a formal dinner and enjoy the company of friends. We sang Christmas songs as I played on the piano, let the 3 year olds play, the dads talked about school, and we all had a grand time.
Here is Cohen's friend Makena who we had over for dinner.
The day after Christmas I finished taking some goodies around. I found a great recipe for cream cheese peppermint candies.
A couple days later Debbie came in for a Christmas visit!
It was so nice to have her here and the kids got Christmas all over again.
Lots of time just hanging out and playing as a family is what we did. We loved it!
