Happy Birthday to Cohen! He turned 3 on September 17th!
He had such a fun Birthday.
Grandma (Josh's mom, Debbie) came in the day before and stayed for the weekend. It was WONDERFUL to have her here. Cohen adores her, so that alone was a gift enough.
For his Birthday dinner we went out to the Red Robin the night before. The server told him to keep that ribbon under his chin, and not let it go. He took that very seriously as you can see here.
Cohen's whole birthday was elephant themed. He's kind of got a thing for them. He's always loved them from The Jungle Book and sings their song and marches along all the time. Until his birthday the poor kid didn't have any toy elephants, so I had to make sure to get him one. This is a candid shot, about an hour after opening some presents in the morning. He's just snuggling his new elephant, Quake.
We had a little Birthday party for Cohen. It was really fun for the kids... I think.... I hope. This is not a good picture, but maybe it gives you an idea of what it was like around here. Each of the kids got an animal mask, and got to march around, or jump, or growl, or whatever their animal would do. It was kind of like a follow-the-leader, parade, impromptu, thing.
I made this pin the tail on the monkey game, and basically just drew it from a picture I saw on-line. I wish I would have allowed myself more time to make the finishing touches a little more refined. Cohen was seriously upset when he didn't win the prize of a jump-rope. Landon was the rightful winner. Other than that though, I think he behaved himself pretty well.
At this point in Cohen's life, he thinks that all birthday parties have a pinata. If there's no pinata, it's not really a birthday party. So, I diligently searched for an elephant pinata and ended up ordering one on-line that was great.
Here is Kaleb, Cohen's best friend.
I made Cohen's Birthday Cake. (Debbie and Josh made the frosting while I frantically ran around making last minute preparations... ) I found these elephants at the dollar store, and it was as simple as that.
Here are some of the cute friends. I think it's just kind of funny that all the kids there for Cohen's birthday all had there mom and a baby sibling there too. It's nice to have so many friends in the same boat.
